Higher Grades for level 4

The amount of work required to gain a lever 4 grade is;

  • Accurate uses of media terminology
  • Evidence
  • Examples
  • Analysis of all technical aspects
  • Understanding of representations

Applying all these into the exam would help to gain a level A/A* grade, as long as you have an understanding of what they all mean and how they are used within media.

To get this level it depends on how many notes you take down in class and how much you understand the work set.

A strong Response would be;

  • Taking detailed notes
  • Understand the nature of representation explore through all 4 main elements
  • Use of media terminology frequently
  • Select relevant examples from extract
  • Analyse technical aspects and constructed age
  • Range of representations
  • Consider whether representation was conformed or subverted stereotypes
A weak response would be;
  • Describe action rather then analyse
  • Only focusing one one are and ignoring the others
  • Stray from question answering
  • Write about TV drama as a genre rather than a representation
  • Inaccurate/rare use of terminology
  • A short response
