In this clip gender is shown by woman being more pwerfull over men and how a much of girls rule a school. This tv drama is gendered towards woman as its all about gossip and scandal. The clip also has the idea of male gaze and male gaze reversed as they use good looking women who get more screen time and get the story going. Also the programma had ideology as they use overly good looking men and women who are the minority of the public, also not many people will act like the people within the programme. The programme contains sexuality as the 2 boys in the clip Eric and Jonathan are a homosexual couple.

Suckerpunch

A young girl is locked away in a mental asylum where she is faced with unimaginable odds, she retreats to an imaginary world where she and 4 other females escape reality. This all blurs into one as they fight to retrieve 5 items they need which will allow them to break free from captivity.

Camera

The use of close ups throughout the clip represents the fact that she looks feminine, due to the glitter and make up on her eyes, however they show that she is not afraid, she holds a fierce expression. There are also a lot of low angle shots giving the audience the impression that the four females are powerful, because its as if they are bigger and stronger than you, the way you are looking up at them. In contrast, there is another low angle shot of them dancing, but this time it allows you to see more typical femininity of the characters using the idea of the male gaze. 

Editing

Each of the shots move very fast, therefore edited quickly, to create slight tension as the audience tries to keep up with the story. All of the clips change in time the music, which is up tempo, forming a rhythmic vibe.

Mise-en-scene

It is set in reality in a mental asylum, an old fashioned building, in complete opposition to the fantasy world inside the girls head. This world almost represents a fairy tale, after holding this fantasy idea of castles and draw bridges, also fictional animals such as dragons. The idea of femininity is shown by dressing the lead character as a school girl, a typical image of how men perceive women to dress. All other characters alongside the lead are dressed in tight leather costume also sowing how men perceive women to dress. This creates an image of the ‘alpha female’, the strongest of the group. 

Sound

The backing music to this trailer consists of an upbeat track, obviously interpreting how fast each shot changes, and that also gives off the ‘audience on the edge of their seat’ effect, as without this music, there would not be as much tension created and it would not be as interesting as you would expect.

In class we have been learning about post feminism, we have been looking at the idea of the male gaze by Laura Mulvey. We also looked at the male gaze reversed.
We also looked at traditional masculinity in rome, traditional masculinity and male masculinity.
We have looked at how masculinity has changed over the years and how it has now become more feminine.

We looked at what is gender representation. This is where elements of our own identity and the identities of what we assume other people have come from concepts of gender.

REPRESENTATION

• Real life concepts that link to reality 
• Someone perception of real life
• Some ones view on a social group
• Reality 'reconstructed' to fit a scenario/narrative 
• Exaggerates/dramatics reality
• Interpretation of reality
• Ideology- opinions and beliefs
• What isn't being shown - heterosexual boy and girl

We then looked at what sort of work we would have to do to gain a good grade from the exam. 

We also looked at a clip of a married couple fighting,  we then took some stills from the clip and analysed their behavior and their social group and if we thought that this was a true representation of the social group they were portraying.

Higher Grades

Higher Grades for level 4

The amount of work required to gain a lever 4 grade is;

• Accurate uses of media terminology 
• Evidence
• Examples
• Analysis of all technical aspects
• Understanding of representations

Applying all these into the exam would help to gain a level A/A* grade, as long as you have an understanding of what they all mean and how they are used within media.

To get this level it depends on how many notes you take down in class and how much you understand the work set.

A strong Response would be;

• Taking detailed notes
• Understand the nature of representation explore through all 4 main elements
• Use of media terminology frequently 
• Select relevant examples from extract 
• Analyse technical aspects and constructed age
• Range of representations 
• Consider whether representation was conformed or subverted stereotypes
